I’m sure a lot of you have followed the case from Maryville, MO, which played out almost exactly as last year’s Steubenville case: young female survivor not getting any justice in the legal system because of the well-connected family of the assailant and the ole’ boys network. Once again Anonymous stepped in and the Kansas City Star published a long article that got international attention. Now a special prosecutor is about to be appointed to re-open the case. Just look up “Maryville” on Google news, there’s almost 700 articles now.

What is really shocking to me is the response of some in the media.

http://www.slate.com/articles/double_x/doublex/2013/10/sexual_assault_and_drinking_teach_women_the_connection.html   “College Women: Stop Getting Drunk” by Emily Yoffe.

It triggered a huge backlash: (both of these have many links to the responses given to Yoffe’s original [awful] piece).
