I’m going to be doing a large training session with our Dean’s Sexual Conduct Review Board, and I was looking for a few succinct educational pieces on psychogenic amnesia. I’m trying to explain some of the reasons why memories are often incomplete or skewed for victims of sexual assault. I want to talk about why victims often have good sensory memories – smells, colors, etc, but narrative memories often take some time to form coherent stories. I hope this makes sense.
