We use those terms too but a student recently expressed discomfort at the term "complainant" and suggested "petitioner" instead.

Currently our university uses the terms “complainant�
and “respondent.� We have considered using “reporting party� and “responding party.� Please let me know if you have any guidance or recommendations for us.
