Often times when I’m doing presentations to students, afterwards someone will disclose an assault. As the Prevention Ed Coordinator for a Women’s Resource Center, which is completely victim focused, I show them support as well as refer them to our therapist and advocates. My understanding of the Title IX Coordinator’s job would be to investigate accusations, or at least that’s the role it has taken on our campus. I’d be concerned that the reputation of investigating may overshadow the role of educating/preventing and that might discourage folks from asking for help.

Hi Folks,

What do you all think about combining Title IX and prevention education coordination into one job?

Seem to be somewhat of a trend and it would be interesting to have your input.
