Hi C.D., At Emory, the Respect Program only sees those students who have been affected by sexual or intimate partner violence. We would be concerned about seeing students who have perpetrated or think they may have perpetrated
until we have a larger staff and could possibly do so at different locations. It is possible that both parties in a situation could present to us, but that has been very rare. We have had almost all students on the respondent/charged student side of a sexual
misconduct situation contact our office. Typically, they are confused, upset, sometimes angry, and often wanting to explain their side of the story to us (sometimes to intimidate the survivor to drop charges). These students are greatly in need of resources
and guidance, but in a very different way than survivors. We refer them to our Counseling Center and also off campus resources (Men Stopping Violence, etc) and have our conduct process partner closely with them to ensure that they not only have some mental
health support (if needed), but perhaps more importantly from our side of things, that they have clear education on not retaliating against or intimidating the student who has filed the charge. My best, LB From: INGRAM, COREY [mailto:]
Dear Colleagues, Hello, I am a program coordinator for Sexual Violence Intervention and Prevention at University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC and I was wondering if any of you have any information on “how Universities and /
or other colleges are dealing with and providing services to individuals who have been accused of sexual assault/sexual violence on campus. How do these services relate to Title IX and Campus Save Act. Specifically, what type of support services are any Universities
and/ or colleges offering to students, if any. If so please inform me how do they work as well as are survivors and alleged perpetrators services housed in the same office or affiliated in any way. Thanks in advance for all who respond for your time and consideration to this matter; it is GREATLY appreciated. Sincerely, C. D.
