Job Summary:
The Health Marketing Coordinator position is funded by a gift for a two-year period. Under the general direction of the Director of Health Promotion Services the Health Marketing Coordinator would advance University of San Francisco's Vision and Mission by working closely with other members of the Student Life development team to set up and maintain the marketing infrastructure, produce marketing content, social marketing campaigns, and provide marketing support for Student Life program initiative, Think About It. Think About It is a science-based online course that prepares incoming college students for the unique challenges and responsibilities of college life. The online course addresses the issues of drug and alcohol abuse, the hookup culture, sexual violence, and healthy relationships. It examines these topics in social, cultural, and personal contexts that advocate self-reflection and the pursuit of social justice. The incumbent will conduct data analysis to identify communication needs, best practices, and help evaluate the effectiveness of communication and marketing campaign for the course. The Health Marketing Coordinator must have a strong interest in public health, graphic design, enjoy working in a fast-paced and independent capacity, and display strong teamwork skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Ability to assess needs, establish program priorities, and develop plans to achieve program goals; collect, compile, chart, and analyze data pertinent to Think About it marketing strategies; plan, organize, conduct, and oversee a variety activities including focus and discussion groups; present ideas and information accurately and concisely both orally and in writing; use computer and web-based information technology systems as a resource for research and to create health marketing campaigns; maintain confidentiality consistent with applicable laws and regulations; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, students, and other Student Life professionals, representatives of the news media, and other community groups.
- Will work both on the USF campus and also at LawRoom, in Walnut Creek (Accessible byBART). Time will be distributed between the two sites as evenly as possible and will vary according to project needs.
- Generate and coordinate health marketing content for Think About It-blogs, press releases, and students' testimonials.
- Maintain a presence on various social media platforms to promote and monitor students' feedback and comments of the course.
- Prepare marketing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales data.
- Join higher education institution listservs to keep up-to-date on alcohol, other drugs, and sexual violence prevention efforts on college campuses.
- Design and maintains a promotional web site for Think About It.
- Develop marketing strategies and social marketing campaigns for Think About It.
- Create marketing materials, fliers, brochures, posters, and mailings for the program.
- Enforce branding consistency in any materials developed.
- Conduct economic and commercial surveys to identify potential markets for the program.
- Provide assistance and support for students who are required to take course.
- Promote Think About It program to all secondary educational institutions (colleges and universities) nationally and internationally.
- Recruit and conduct student focus groups to develop marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field, such as advertising, business administration, communication, or brand management and sales
- Equivalent of two to three years of progressively responsible marketing experience to perform the assigned duties, preferably within Higher Education Institutions
- Advanced skills in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Power point, and Excel
- General skills in HTML/Web Design
- General knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, current and emerging college age student health concerns
