Hello,
As part of our VAWA grant, we are in the process of contracting with an outside agency to provide a part time domestic violence counselor. I am curious to hear about other colleges and universities who contract with outside agencies (such as nonprofits, practices, etc) for counseling services for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or stalking.
What is the role of the counselor? Are there any limitations of that role? Do you consider the student seeing the contracted counselor the university's client or the agency's client? What forms do you use? How are referrals handled from your counseling center? Is there a set procedure for emergencies when it involves the counselor's client?
Thank you for your input, any information would be very helpful.
