Position Purpose:
|
To work with the Center for Women and Gender, a division of the Office of Pluralism and Leadership at Dartmouth College to engage the male identified population
in programs, educational opportunities, mentoring, and community building opportunities based on examinations of masculinity. This work will primarily be completed through management of The Men's Project an effort of the Center for Women and Gender that creates
opportunities to address the challenges and privileges faced by men at Dartmouth College. The Men's Project seeks to bring together resources to help men at Dartmouth think about the role of masculinity in their lives as well as celebrate the diversity of
experiences within the male community at this institution.

Skills & Knowledge:
|
Understanding of masculinity from multiple theoretical lenses including but not limited to: critical race theory, feminist theory, queer theory etc.
Ability to plan, coordinate and oversee projects and programs.
Excellent presentation skills.
Good judgment, discretion, independence and initiative.
Demonstrated commitment to understanding intersections multiple identities.
Ability to maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
Demonstrated financial management skills, ability to interpret and manage budget.

Minimum Experience:
|
Three years of relevant experience working in a higher education setting preferably in a department/division focused on diversity.
Experience planning, coordinating and presenting programs.
Experience advising students individually and in group settings.

Minimum Education:
|
Masters required, PhD preferred in women's and gender studies, ethnic studies, education, communication or a related field.
Special focus on masculinity in coursework or thesis/dissertation.

Job Summary
|
Acts as a first-line crisis responder to victims of sexual harassment and violence. Empathizes and connects with a wide range of
people and translates creative thought processes into innovative educational programs and policies. Reports to the Director of Yale’s Sexual Harassment and Assault Response & Education Center (“SHARE&! #8221;).

Departmental Focus:
|
As part of Yale's Sexual Harassment and Assault Response & Education Center (SHARE), providing information, advocacy and support
services to those experiencing sexual violence, sexual harassment, stalking or intimate partner violence, the SHARE Associate will develop innovative programs, serve as a first-line crisis responder to victims of sexual harassment and violence and administer
grants. The small, committed, highly motivated SHARE team is seeking applicants who demonstrate ability to empathize and connect with a wide range of people who can translate creative thought processes into innovative educational programs ! & policies. The
successful candidate will be enthusiastic, intrins ically motivated and have strong planning & execution skills.

|
|
Principal Responsibilities
|
1. Acts as a first point of contact for individuals (primarily students), who have experienced sexual harassment or sexual assault.
2. Provides one-on-one counseling/support to individuals to process their experiences and to consider possible courses of action.
3. Facilitates meetings with specially trained officers of the Yale Police Department to explain the procedures and steps for a forensic investigation.
4. Accompanies sexual assault victims to the Emergency Department for evidence collection and arranges for expedited entry in advance. Explains the various complaint processes available and accompanies the individual throughout the complaint
process.
5. Serves as an advocate and provides ongoing support as needed.
6. Creates, executes and/or supervises new prevention programs for Yale students and graduate students.
7. Provides and delivers current training and educational services for members of the Yale Community on existing university policies, response mechanisms, available resources and prevention.
8. Creates a speaker series focusing on sexual assault prevention and response.
9. Builds positive relationships with the target populations to support the effectiveness of the above programs and poli! cies. Liaises with leaders of relevant student organizations.10. Researches potential strategies for obtaining future
grants; investigates internal and external funding sources for program development and future growth.
11. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
|
Advanced degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Women’s or Gender Studies, or related academic or professional field.
Two years of related work experience working in a college setting.
|
|

Strong interpersonal skills, including but not limited to listening and counseling skills. Sensitive to the range of physical,
emotional and cultural responses to a crisis.

Ability to advocate on survivor's behalf while utilizing a range of complex legal, disciplinary and medical procedures and protocols.
Sound professional judgment, ethical practice and common sense. Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations. Excellent oral and written communication.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
|
Strong, flexible presentation skills and creat! ive pedagogy. Ability to teach difficult material to a wide range of a udiences.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Skilled the use of office software applications to prepare management reports and use software to develop information; able to enter data in required management reports.
