Hi Emily,
We've had great success with pairing with our athletics teams to have them
"sponsor" certain games to raise awareness about DV, SA or stalking through
the year. They get creative wearing colored shoelaces, armbands, etc. and
our peer educators make posters for the game, and host an information booth.
We provide information to the announcers about statistics, resources,
solutions, etc. that they can then share with the crowd.
In getting ready for the event, you can often get in to speak with the teams
about the issues they are representing at the upcoming game.
Good luck!

Hello All,
I am new to sexual/interpersonal violence prevention work on college
campuses. This is a great community and I feel fortunate to be in the fold.
Currently I am reaching out to areas on campus to provide programming. I am
finding that short programs (a one time workshop)are more feasible due to the
hectic schedule of students as well as the requirements already placed on
them. This is particularly true of athletes.
That being said, does anyone have a prevention workshop/program they use for
athletics that gets you in the door? It is my hope that a brief program leads
to a more in depth program down the road.
Thank you for your time and assistance,
Emily
