Summary of Job Duties

Victim Advocacy Specialist 
Rape Prevention Education Program 
Will advocate for student victims of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence and stalking by working with campus partners including UCSB PD, Student Health Services, Housing/Residential Life, Judicial Affairs, and Counseling Services. Working with other RPEP staff, the Victim Advocacy Specialist will publicize the victim advocacy services offered on campus and in the community with assistance from Coordinated Community Response (CCR) team members. Will assist in conducting targeted outreach to underserved communities and assist with grant administrative tasks.  
Minimum Requirements Reqs: Master's degree in student affairs/higher education, social work, community counseling, women's studies, or other related field. Demonstrated ability to provide support to victims of sexual violence. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with sexual and relationship violence-related issues, including support services and prevention/risk-reduction initiatives. Experience working with survivors of sexual violence, providing crisis intervention, and demonstrating cultural awareness, sensitivity and competency. Advocacy experience in the fields of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, as well as prevention and outreach experience, especially on college campuses. 
Minimum of two years working in Student Affairs and/or gender violence services. 
Current working knowledge of theory, practices, protocols, and response to victims/survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and other violent crimes committed predominantly against women. Demonstrated leadership, management, administrative, conflict resolution, team building and supervisory skills. Proficient computer skills.  
Desirable Requirements Familiarity with best practices related to policy development and victim advocacy preferred.  
Satisfactory completion of a fingerprint background check  
Other Special Conditions of Employment Occasional evening and weekend work, and career appointment with end date of 12/31/2014 based on grant funding. 
10 month position with possibly June and July on furlough. Furlough months to be determined by department.
