We cannot guarantee confidentiality in an e-mail message. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ Sexual Assault Support Services Coordinator/Staff Psychologist or Counselor Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) of Oregon State University has a full-time, 12 month, fixed term position opening for SASS Coordinator/Staff Psychologist or Counselor, with an anticipated start date of October, 2012. CAPS is a valued and thriving agency within a strong Division of Student Affairs, and is exceptionally supported by the student body, whose fees entirely fund the department. We are accredited by IACS and host an APA-accredited internship. We seek a passionate, innovative, team-oriented candidate who is interested in joining a center that seeks to support OSU’s mental health by working collaboratively to alter both the individual, collective, and environmental factors that influence mental well-being. Further, this candidate should be passionate about promoting a survivor-centered response to sexual violence in the community. To succeed in this position, candidates must have strong commitments to (1) holistic approaches to student and community development, (2) excellence in counseling and educational practices, (3) personal and professional multicultural competence, and (4) collaboration across the university community to promote sensitive and effective responses to sexual violence. CAPS works within a developmental philosophy and a brief therapy model, and candidates must demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse student body within these two frames. Description: The SASS Coordinator provides coordination, training, and leadership for campus sexual violence response efforts. Responsibilities will include: maintaining collaborative relationships with campus and community responders; development/enhancement of campus programs, policies, and procedures regarding response to sexual violence; delivery of presentations about sexual violence; and coordination of the internal CAPS agency response to survivors of sexual violence. The Coordinator manages the SASS helpline (including crisis intervention, triage, and consultation for faculty, staff, and students), conducts clinical intake interviews, provides brief individual, couples, and group therapy for students (working with trauma survivors and as a generalist), coordinates and facilitates referrals, provides supervision and training for pre-doctoral interns, practicum students, and psychiatry residents, serves on interdisciplinary committees, and co-facilitates the campus Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Alliance (SARPA). A commitment to, demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with sexual violence education and response, multiculturalism, and social justice is necessary. Required Qualifications: - Earned doctoral or masters degree in counseling or clinical psychology, social work, or related mental health field - Hold a current OR license or be license-eligible in the state of OR as a psychologist, social worker or other related mental health professional - Two years experience in survivor support services; Advanced knowledge of current practices and methods regarding services to sexual violence survivors. Knowledge and skill in working with issues germane to and affecting survivors - Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the development of support services and experience with educational efforts in the area of sexual violence prevention - A demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and social justice - Ability to handle a busy caseload in a fast-paced work environment - Incumbents must successfully complete a Criminal Background Check and be deemed fit for duty at placement and while serving in the position Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program, previous university counseling center experience, 2 or more years of post-degree work experience, and current licensure.
