Educator Certification Training (October 22-26, Las Vegas, NV)
As agencies, universities and community organizations began to offer services for victims of sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, child abuse and stalking – it quickly became clear that there was a need to ensure minimum standards for advocates working on the front lines. We wanted to ensure a foundation of knowledge and skills in all our advocates that would maximize the likelihood that each victim that reached out for help would be met with a positive, supportive, knowledgeable ally. We set the bar high for our standard of care, with most states requiring at least 40 hours of training.

As our field builds momentum in addressing prevention head-on, it is important that our standards of competence for our educators are as high as for our advocates. The human cost of sexual violence, partner violence, child abuse and stalking violence is unacceptably high and funding to address these issues is limited. For these reasons, it is crucial that prevention programs are informed by the latest research and implemented with the highest skills to ensure the most efficient and effective outcomes. Effective prevention and mobilization of our communities requires significant skill in navigating issues that are often laden with stigma, mis-information and biases – and a knowledge base that ensures implemented strategies have maximum chance for success.  As a step toward meeting this goal, Green Dot etc. .(in partnership with experts from across the field) is pleased to offer our first Educator Certification Training. This training is not specific to the Green Dot Curriculum, but instead will provide a general foundation of knowledge and skills that we believe will set a standard of competence that will position all educators for greater success regardless of the programs and strategies they are using.
