I have had the honor of working with A  Long Walk Home and can vouch for its impact and approach. The Tillet sisters are brilliant and inspiring. The performers they partner with are equally impressive. I recommend this program!

Hello All-

I know many of you are in the planning stages of programming for SAAM in April and I wanted to reach you and tell you about A Long Walk Home.

A Long Walk Home invites you to join our COURAGE tour, a national platform for colleges that are taking a stand against sexual violence. Already reaching 100, 000 people, our programs are touching the lives of college students everywhere.

Our award winning performance, Story of a Rape Survivor (SOARS), is a perfect event for freshman orientation programming. SOARS blends dance, music, spoken-word poetry, and photography and features a diverse cast to tell one woman’s story of reclaiming her body, sexuality, and self-esteem after being sexually assaulted during her first year of college.  Please see a trailer of this unique performance here.

Our trainings, “Training College Leaders to End Sexual Violence,” “Organizing Students of Color Against Sexual Violence,” and “It’s a Men’s Issue Too,” are led by the leading advocates and academics in the field and our workshop leaders have been featured on CNN, MSNBC, TedxWomen and in the Nation.

We’ve already presented at Harvard University, Princeton University, Smith College, University of Chicago, University of Michigan, and Western Washington University, and would love to add the your students to the list.

I look forward to speaking to you about including SOARS in your SAAM planning.

Best,

Sharonda Glover
