1. For all of our hearing panels – College Judicial Council and Dean’s Sexual Conduct Review Board *which only hears sexual conduct policy/Title IX violations* - attendance is always mandatory at training. I keep a sign-in sheet for them to sign as well as a spreadsheet for only me to see where I document attendance, non-attendance. We tell them in our e-mail reminders and at our trainings every year that you will not sit on a hearing until you have gone through training. 2. Sanctions are open for Sexual Conduct Policy Violations – meaning the full range is available (about 22 options). We are working on building a codified precedent list matching sanctions to specific violations in specific circumstances as a guide, but not a binding guide. Our sanctions have tended to vary according to the circumstances. Wade Felty Wade Felty Special Assistant for Judicial Affairs Support and Assistant Sexual Assault Response Coordinator Office of Residence Life & Housing and Judicial Affairs Randolph-Macon College (804)-752-3234 (Office) (717)-813-3513 (Mobile) From: Heather Horton [mailto:] My institution is seeking best practices/standards on the following issues, and would appreciate if you could share what your institutions are doing with regard to the following issues: 1. Mandatory trainings—do you do them, how do you document attendance/non-attendance, are there consequences for non-attendance? 2. My campus does not have a codified system of sanctions (sanctions are determined on a case-by-case basis), but our conduct officers are seeking to determine whether our sanctions are generally in line with other institutions. What are your campus precedents regarding sanctions for different types of sexual misconduct, and what are your campus policies regarding documentation of sanctions on student permanent records? Thanks very much for your assistance! --Heather Heather L.
