Below please see a request for information from a Georgetown senior in relation to her research regarding perceptions of safety among Cambodian women in America. If you are able to assist, please contact her directly.
Please forward to others who may be interested and my apologies for cross-posting...
My name is Molly Battle and I am a senior nursing student at Georgetown University. I have spent the last year researching Cambodian culture and womens' issues, and am investigating the perception of personal safety among Cambodian women in America. This is an incredibly important issue because of this history and violence that many of these women have experienced during the Khmer Rouge, as well as the resulting cultural shifts. The word "safe" for this population can mean something very different than the American cultural norm. My research aims to investigate this difference in order to make recommendations for culturally competent health care for these women. Talking to women directly about issues of safety can be very challenging due to the many barriers that exist, so my goal is to speak with providers or key informants that serve this community or have experience with the community. If anyone would be willing to speak with me regarding this incredibly important issue, I would be thrilled. Please contact me via email or phone:

Confidentiality is very important to me, so if you wish to remain anonymous that is acceptable to the purpose of this study. I look forward to speaking with you.
Sincerely,
Molly Battle
