The U.S. Department of Education's new Handbook for Campus Safety and Security Reporting has been released and is available online. The new handbook covers 2008 amendments to the Jeanne Clery Act that expanded hate crime reporting, and added new emergency response and missing student guidelines. It also covers new campus fire safety reporting requirements. This edition replaces the original 2005 Handbook for Campus Crime Reporting.

Grants to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program Applications Available
The U.S. Department of Justice's Grants to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program application process is now open. The Campus Program, administered by the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), supports activities that develop and strengthen victim services in cases involving sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking on campuses. The Campus Program also aims to strengthen security and investigative strategies to prevent and prosecute these crimes on campuses. Grants of up to $300,000 for individual institutions and up to $500,000 for consortia projects are available.
Application packets are available online at http://www.ovw.usdoj.gov/docs/fy2011-campus-solicitation.pdf. Letters of intent are due by March 10, 2011 and the application deadline is March 31, 2011.
