Juliette asked for some background on the case.  Here are some sources from all sides of the debate.  Additionally, I have some commentary.  These cases are incendiary.  They often contain one-sided observations that people accept as unchallenged truth.  The University of the Pacific is an NCHERM client, so I admit bias.  When this case arose,  I talked to the lawyers suing, and got their version. I asked Elizabeth Griego for her version, and I was satisfied with it.  I deplore the comments made by the university's PR guy, as they were wrong, insensitive, and damaging.  However, I don't believe Elizabeth said the things that she was alleged to have, and I believe the university's conduct system response was completely reasonable and appropriate.  There are many people there who are well-informed, caring, sincere and genuinely interested in sexual violence and its prevention.  The campus does much to address this issue.  Despite its belief that it did what it could, the university used this case as an opportunity for learning, and revised its campus sexual misconduct policies this past summer to be even more effective.
