higher numbers often means the school is in an urban setting and in any event, higher numbers usually means the school is more honest about their issues - which is strong evidence they are being proactive about prevention - which means MORE safety.

Washington University among most dangerous campuses
 
Washington University in St. Louis is among the most dangerous campuses in the nation, while Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville is among the safest, according to anew rankingfrom The Daily Beast.
 
Washington Universityranks 13thon a list of the 50 most dangerous campuses, with 159 burglaries, 144 car thefts, 59 robberies, 30 aggravated assaults, 22 forcible   rapes , one murder and one arson over the last three calendar years.
 
SIUE, on the other hand, ranks as 21st on thelist of the 50-safestschools, with 17 burglaries, four forcible rapes, four car thefts, two aggravated assaults and two robberies over the past three years.
 
Overall, Tufts University in Boston ranked as the most dangerous school, and Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee ranked as the safest.
 
The Daily Beast looked at 458 schools with residential facilities and at least 6,000 students. It examined data from the U.S. Department of Education, FBI and Secret Service.
