Tom,
This a great question. Measuring prevention is a complicated issue. IT is hard to find ways to actually reduce rates. I recently wote about the recent “Readiness to Change” model adapted for sexual violence prevention which was developed by University of New Hampshire published in Victoria Banyard’s January 2010 article Sexual Violence Prevention: The Role of Stages of Change. http://calcasa.org/prevention/social-marketing-to-prevent-sexual-violence-2/ This is an exciting way to conceptualize prevention.
I also have a eLearning unit exploring this issue on PreventConnect based on a web conference http://www.preventconnect.org/display/displayTextItems.cfm?itemID=193§ionID=254 and a web conference on this topic developed for California Rape Crisis Centers http://calcasa.org/prevention/measuring-prevention-report-from-calcasa-web-conference/

Greetings Folks,I am looking for evaluation of any efforts to address violence. Looking for environmental management approaches, as well as component pieces - reporting, prevention, data gathering, support programs, policy and procedures, etc. If you are aware of published work, please send it along. If you have unpublished evaluations you would be willing to share, that would be great.I also am curious about what people see as the most illuminating measures in regard to violence prevention and intervention.I will gladly collate responses and repost, though that may not happen for a few weeks.Sorry for any cross postings. Thanks,Tom Schiff, Ed.D.
