Program Coordinator, Men's Peer Education

The Program Coordinator is a member of Columbia University's Sexual
Violence and Prevention Program's (SVPRP) team and serves as the
prevention specialist for the Columbia campus.   The Coordinator will
manage program functions and logistics relevant to the Men's Program for
SVPRP.  The individual will engage students through educational
programming, workshops, training sessions, organizing campaigns,
large-scale campus events, and other methods and forums.    In
partnership with the Coordinator of the Columbia-Barnard Rape Crisis
Anti-Violence Support Center and in alliance with campus groups and
students leaders and in keeping with best practices, the Men's
Coordinator will develop and implement strategies for addressing sexual
violence on campus.    Engagement with traditionally underserved
students groups, such as athletes, fraternity members, and students of
color will be a priority.  Responsibilities also include recruiting,
training, coaching and supervising student peer educators and
volunteers.   The individual will also educate, train, and liaise with
Student Affairs and Health Service Colleagues.   Tracking and evaluation
are key components of the position.  

SVPRP is a dynamic and diverse team of seven professionals committed to
anti-violence work from a social-justice, anti-racist perspective.   The
SVPRP provides comprehensive education and advocacy to support survivors
of sexual and relationship violence. The SVPRP educates students about
consent and coercion and promotes community standards for a respectful
and safe campus.   The program fosters individual and collective action
to end sexual and relationship violence by: (1) educating students and
administrators about the dynamics and effects of sexual violence; (2)
helping student' develop communication and assessment skills conducive
to promoting and maintaining healthy and intimate
relationships,(3)advocating for appropriate support and survivors of
sexual and relationship violence, and (4) advocating for appropriate
accountability for perpetrators of sexual and relationship violence. 

Qualifications:

Requires:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent in training and education.
Minimum of three years experience in sexual assault education,
prevention strategies, or related field.  Prior experience with or
demonstrated commitment to developing and implementing violence
prevention and education programs; engaging men as bystanders and
allies; and experience with supporting male survivors and holding male
offenders accountable.  Ability to handle sensitive and confidential
matters with discretion and to work effectively with student, faculty
and administrative constituencies.  Must demonstrate ability to
facilitate large and small group discussions, and promote collaboration
and work within a team model.  Proven ability to work in multi-racial
environment, and commitment to social justice practice.  Excellent
written and oral communication, organizational, interpersonal, and
training skills.  
Strongly preferred: Master's or related graduate degree, experience with
sexual assault offender intervention programs, and volunteer management
experience.
