Hi Laura,
I'm not sure if you'll be able to find something to fit the bill for all of
that - alcohol safety, sexual violence AND sexual health are quite a broad
set of subjects. On our campus, I worked (as the sexual assault educator)
with our sexual health educator to create a workshop we called "Wasted Sex:
An Exploration of the Drunk Hook-Up" that talked about alcohol, sex, and
sexual violence. I think there's a lot more to say about all of those
subjects, but we looked at what good sex was, how alcohol was used to obtain
"good sex", how that could be problematic, etc. If you're interested, I'd be
happy to talk to my co-facilitator and see if she'd be cool with us sharing
that outline with you. (It's not an all-student assembly sort of program,
tho) Again, though, my caution would be against feeling like you can talk
about all three of those topics unless you have some way of linking them up
together, and even then, this would be a very specific program - or waaay to
broad. That's my thought at least. Good luck!
Peace,
Ross

Subject: Orientation programs addressing sexual violence and alcohol

Our orientation director is re-tooling Wildcat Welcome here at Northwestern.
Previously, we had two separate sessions on sexual violence and alcohol. She
would like to combine these topics into one session and also add sexual
health information.

Our long-range plan is to develop a peer theater program, but this will
probably not be in place for fall 2010, so we are searching for a speaker or
program who might be able to address these issues. We've previously had Sex
Signals address the sexual violence piece, and they were very well-received,
but won't work in our re-designed format.

Does anyone have a speaker or program to recommend for this fall that
addresses sexual violence, alcohol, and sexual health in a comprehensive way?

Thanks,
Laura
