Hi, friends!  I hope your holidays are going well.

 

Some years ago in Maine, a bunch of us came up with the idea of a "Holidays
Shouldn't Hurt" poster campaign.  The campaign features clip-art images of
women, children, men and families, with the phrase "Holidays Shouldn't Hurt"
over the photos.  Under the photos is the phrase "All I want for the
holidays is to feel safe in my home."  (For colleges, you can change it to
"in my relationship" or something.)

 

In smaller print, the phrase underneath says "No one has the right to
control the life of another human being.  If you're feeling tense or scared
in your home or in your relationship, you are not alone and help is
available.  Call (hotline number).  If you're using 'holiday stress' as an
excuse to control or abuse the people you love, please stop; the holidays
shouldn't hurt."  (you can put your local batterer's intervention number
here if you like.)

 

The posters are already made, and the photos are from clip-art so they don't
cost a dime.  Email me if you want me to send you some posters that you can
adapt for your agency.  Happy holidays!
