Position: EDUCATION AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR FOR THE CAMPUS VIOLENCE
PREVENTION PROGRAM
Salary: $3,009.00-$5,115.00/Mo.

Department Description: This position is located in the Police Department,
Davis. The Police Department is responsible for all law enforcement for the
Davis campus and Medical Center in Sacramento, maintaining an environment
which supports the University's mission of education, research and public
service, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
Location: Davis, California
Job Summary: Reporting to the Police Captain, the Education and Outreach
Coordinator for the Campus Violence Prevention Program coordinates
activities related to prevention of rape, sexual assault, relationship
violence, and stalking. Serve as a resource in furthering the department's
goals of preventing crime and raising awareness on campus and in the
community of sexual violence issues. Works with various campus programs to
develop educational programs and outreach activities.
Physical Demands:
- Detect/distinguishes nuances in conversations or conflict situations.
- Discerns body language and facial expressions.
Work Environment:
- This position is a critical position and subject to a background check.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background
investigation including criminal history and identity check.
- Valid California Driver's License required.
- Work with constant interruptions; communicate on a telephone; work with
computers; work in an area with noise from various sources; work with
deadline pressures and be available by pager as needed by the Police
department and campus community.
- Employee is personally responsible for following health and safety
guidelines/instructions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in counseling and crisis intervention, while handling a wide
range of situations and referring to appropriate resources.
- Knowledge of laws and procedures regarding sexual/interpersonal violence.
- Knowledge of issues related to rape, sexual assault, acquaintance rape,
relationship violence, child abuse, stalking, personal safety and other
issues of sexual violence.
- Experience in program development and planning practices.
- Experience presenting and facilitating group discussions.
- Oral and written communication skills to develop
procedures/policies/guidelines and convey them to a diverse audience.
- Organizational skills to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous
complex projects/situations, distribute effort appropriately among the
projects, meet tight deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.
- Analytical skills to exercise independent judgment in problem solving,
remain objective and represent differing points of view.
- Knowledge to assess sensitive situations and communication skills to
provide feedback, resolve problems/conflicts, and build trusting
relationships.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, electronic
communication.
- Counseling and crisis intervention skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of Rape Crisis Training and previously held State Certification
from a Rape Crisis Center within the last 5 years.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures regarding
sexual/interpersonal violence.
- Knowledge of the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Campus Violence
Prevention Program.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the personal, social, and intellectual
developmental needs, problems and characteristics of college students.
- Knowledge of various reservation procedures.
- Skills to develop, interpret and apply CVPP, Police and University
policies.
- Skills to implement policy decisions and changes.
- Skills to make group presentations and train others.
