This is my first time posting to the list so I apologize if this doesn't come 
across correctly. I'm surprised with all the questions and talk of bystander 
programs that no one has mentioned a program called Green Dot, or perhaps it 
has and I missed it. If it hasn't been, I highly encourage folks to take a 
look at www.greendotkentucky.com. Dorothy Edwards is an amazing woman at the 
University of Kentucky who developed this program after doing loads of 
research involving social diffusion theory, diffusion of innovation, as well 
as bystander literature and perpetrator research. She sought out many 
respected folks in the field as well to gather information about their 
research (David Lisak and others). 
 
Our statewide coalition, Washington Sexual Violence Prevention College 
Coalition, brought her out in May to do a train-the-instructor session for 3 
days and I have to say it was nothing short of life changing. I have been 
doing this work since 2001 and for the first time I feel like we've found a 
program that is true prevention. We had about 30 attendees at the training 
who represented at least 7 schools in our state. Many of us have plans to 
begin implementing this fall. This program began at UK and has since spread 
as a statewide initiative in Kentucky. If that's not an example of buy-in and 
a step toward shifting a culture, I don't know what is.
