The most recent posts are quite interesting. Regarding John's question about
the survey that Steve posted, I didn't get a sense that he was asking us
those questions, but rather giving us a brief inquiry that he is conducting
at his institution-hence no need to post IRB approval info. That being said,
and given the interest that a number of people have expressed, why don't we
figure out some kind of strategy to develop an instrument (or instruments)
and then from that point, figure out how we could implement this at our
respective institutions? The membership list is quite extensive, and covers
a wide range of institutional type: community colleges, technical/specialist
schools (such as design or cuisine), research institutions/4
year/PhD-granting. And so on. We would need someone to be the PI on this.
I am happy to speak with some faculty here at UVA who might be interested.
But as Steve mentions, we may have list members or close allies to list
members who have a particular interest in this topic. Or, maybe even someone
knows a pre-proposal doctoral student who needs a topic and would have the
time/dedication to get this done. I personally don't think I could do much
this summer, and we would have to find some funding source as well (DOJ?).
Those of you with government/foundation connections, what do you think? This
could be an important project if done well.
Thanks,
Claire
