Men Can Stop Rape, Inc. (MCSR) and our fifty-five co-sponsors would like
to thank everyone who participated in "MEN AND WOMEN AS ALLIES," our
first annual NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE PRIMARY PREVENTION OF MEN'S
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
The conference was a huge success! We had a wonderful surprising
appearance from actress and V-Day supporter Rosario Dawson, who appeared
on behalf of Eve Ensler and read a powerful and moving speech that Eve
prepared. A heartfelt thanks to all of our wonderful keynotes: Ritu
Sharma, Women Thrive Worldwide; Byron Hurt, director of "Beyond Beats &
Rhymes;" Congresswoman Donna Edwards of Maryland/co-founder of the
National Network to End Domestic Violence; Catherine Pierce, Acting
Director of DOJ's Office of Violence Against Women; Dr. Kaye Whitley,
Director of DoD Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office; and Ben
Atherton-Zeman, "Voices of Men" performance artist. Check out PHOTOS and
VIDEO COVERAGE (via C-SPAN and a local CBS affiliate) on our website
http://mencanstoprape.org/conference.
Also, everyone is welcome to join our NEW LISTSERV, "Men and Women as
Allies," to discuss topics explored at the conference and the general
theme of men and women working together to end violence. Join here -
