the director of our local DV agency has asked me to try to get the following
information to support a grant - she's looking for local data, but national
data would also be helpful.  you'll see that the connection to SA services,
so if you have information on hospitals and SA victims, that may help her as
well.  her email is at the bottom if you want to respond directly to her.
Thanks.

I would like to know in Virginia, which other areas in this state have
domestic violence screening at the Emergency room and which of those partner
with domestic violence agencies to call advocates to the scene. I would like
to know Nationally too, but I don't know how challenging that would be.

I would like to know what increase in numbers of people served or calls to
the hospital, numbers of persons identified as DV, etc. after such a
screening and protocol was implemented.

I would like to know if there are studies that have looked at advocacy
provided by DV centers/programs (not shelter) particularly at hospitals but
perhaps, if not available, other places (health centers, free clinics, dr.
offices, police departments, etc.) and what type of effectiveness it
resulted in. If available or possible, we need to demonstrate through
someone else's success, how advocate services helped victims access
healthcare, or perhaps they would accept another definition of care like
accessed additional services, made steps to change the situation, sought
services to improve their safety, etc. I can make another appointment in a
few months and find out if she (at the Foundation) is willing to explore
this with me a little more. The foundation specifically states access to
healthcare and she specifically used the example of RCDV proving or
supporting (through a study) the statement that through accessing an
advocate at that time (at the hospital) in the victim's journey, that it
increased the victims access to care. (Again, care could be defined as
accessing services generally and not necessarily healthcare, I hope!)
