I am looking for information on record keeping for campus-based advocacy
services. I run a peer-based advocacy program that is part of the
University's Health Center and Counseling Center. All contacts with
clients are confidential with the option of also being anonymous.
Students are trained to provide services and to document all contacts.
These records differ from our counseling center records in that
paraprofessionals are providing advocacy services and not counseling,
anonymity is respected, records include only a brief narrative and
exclude assessment.
Are there other programs out there who have only addressed the issue of
advocacy services that are part of the health center? What are your
policies regarding record content and record retention? Any other
information you have on this topic would be helpful.
Thanks,
