Hello everyone,
I am writing to you on behalf of all those whose voices are being silenced by the closing of the Women's and Gender Equity Resource Center at Texas A&M University. The center is going to be shut down on Sept. 1st and I'm hoping that maybe with letters of protest of the other centers out there, the administration might begin to understand the importance of a center, especially on that campus (which is consistently listed as one of the top 10 most conservative campuses in the nation). I have a special place in my heart for the center since I worked there for three years. Please see the attached letter and sign it if you feel comfortable doing so. You can also write your own if you want. I can answer any questions that you may have and get you the contact information if you would like. The letter is also being circulated the National Women's Studies Association Women's Centers Committee to sign as well. If you can think of other groups to involve, please feel free to send it on.

Thanks for any support you can give. Texas A&M needs a center, I would argue, more than most campuses and it is the students who will be hurt the most by its closing.
