We ask for your assistance in identifying strong candidates for the Director
of Professional Development and Recruitment vacancy in the Development
division. I have enclosed the job description for your information.
The primary responsibilities for this position include designing and
implementing the professional development program for the Development
division's diverse and creative staff. The Director will also create
strategies to recruit a broad, diverse pool of applicants for development
positions; manage the division's diversity plan; and develop and manage a new
internship program that will utilize recent alumni as ambassadors for the
College.
We're looking for someone with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and
communications skills who can motivate and inspire colleagues to do their
best work. Requirements include: a bachelor's degree; seven years' experience
in professional development, recruitment, organizational development, or a
related field; experience in a complex environment requiring flexibility and
collaboration with multiple stakeholders; experience in designing,
implementing, and managing orientation and professional development
activities for an organization; experience in recruiting professional staff;
and the ability to travel. Fund-raising or experience in a development
context would be a plus, but most important are demonstrated analytical and
strategic thinking capabilities, well-refined project management skills, and,
above all, the ability to foster respectful communication and collaboration
with a diversity community.
The search committee will treat nominations and applications as confidential,
if requested. If you would like to talk about this opportunity, please call
me at the number below. I will be happy to answer any questions that you may
have and would greatly appreciate any referrals you send our way.
Sincerely,
Lesa M. Knapp, PHR
