Position Description
About GNESA and the Position
GNESA is a non-profit organization located in Atlanta, GA. The purpose of
GNESA is to focus the communities of Georgia on ending all forms of sexual
violence and be a collective voice for its members.
GNESA is a coalition of rape crisis centers, agencies, service providers,
survivors, and other concerned citizens that:
advocates for social and legislative change,
promotes prevention initiatives and public awareness,
promotes quality, standardized services for everyone affected by
sexual violence, and
provides professional training and community education.
The President and CEO provides leadership to the organization and its staff
in implementing a strategic plan developed in conjunction with the Board of
Directors
Essential Functions
With the Board, develop and implement GNESAs long-range strategic
plan, annual goals and objectives. Oversee the development,
implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that support
GNESAs mission. Lead the staff in developing and presenting to the
Board for its approval a realistic annual budget. Make financial
decisions consistent with the budget as approved by the Board.
Develop a staffing structure that supports the efficient delivery of
programs and services and accomplishment of major goals identified in
the strategic plan. Hire and manage the staff, implement and
revise as needed personnel policies approved by the Board. Assure all
personnel contribute to the successful implementation of GNESAs
strategic plan by accomplishing annual objectives; regularly interact
with staff to share information, understand issues, and solicit input;
and provide development opportunities to increase professional skills
and effectiveness.
Maintain financial records and insure that funds are received and
disbursed in compliance with terms of grants and any other applicable
laws as well as any additional financial policies and procedures
approved by the Board. Provide regular, timely internal financial
statements to the Board that compare performance to budget and to the
previous year or other benchmark. Plan for adequate cash flow to cover
operational needs.
Assure that adequate policies, procedures and practices are in place
to properly manage GNESAs programs and resources and insure that risks
are minimized.
Design and implement a development program, including supporting the
Boards involvement in fundraising, personally cultivating and
soliciting donors, and supervising implementation of fundraising plans
and policies approved by the Board.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships and regular
communications with the Victim Services Committee, member
constituencies, aligned coalitions, and other prevention professionals.

Maintain a high level of visibility in the state legislature and
community as a whole advocating for rape crisis and sexual assault
prevention issues and promoting GNESAs services. Serve as the
principle spokesperson for GNESA to the media and larger community and
supervise outreach and public relations efforts.
Lead staff in researching, compiling, and providing information in
the area of sexual assault and prevention. Disseminate this
information to members and other constituent groups in a timely fashion.
Develop and promote GNESA as the subject matter expert for current
issues, trends, and public policies related to sexual assault and
prevention.
Comply with all local, state, and federal legal requirements.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to lead an organization to achieve its mission
by building an effective team in which all members skills are utilized
and views valued. Provide direction, support, reinforcement, and
coaching to create a high-commitment, high-performing work team.
Demonstrated ability to create strategic goals and objectives on
issues, services, and events and to prioritize, coordinate, and organize
resources and people in efficient and effective ways to accomplish these
goals and objectives.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with
diverse constituencies who can impact GNESAs success by being a highly
visible advocate and spokesperson for the organization.
A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required with an advanced degree
preferred.
Seven to ten years experience in management and supervisory roles
including financial and human resource management.
Understanding of the issues surrounding sexual assault on national,
state, and local levels and knowledge of non-profit board governance and
state government processes desirable.
Experience in marketing, fundraising, grant writing, and community
outreach a plus.
