i think the question i want to ask all of you is, do you actually believe in the "red zone"? Do you all believe that most college rapes occur during these first few weeks for first-year students? I don't know if I believe this. My work experience does not lead to this result, but I also did not do any actual studies.
it was tracked down by Nicolette Yevich (thank you) that the language about the red zone is in I Never Called it Rape on page 157. Yet, there is still no statistic, only an assumption. Has any real research been done on this???

Thanks for the feedback, Sarah - you raise a good point. The flyer is
actually a fairly old one that we have not used for a while, thus the
outdated "prevention" language. Our current materials are strong on risk
reduction (as compared to prevention) language. I will be looking at
this particular piece to revise the language after giving your comments
more thought. We have other materials that emphasize the role of
responsibility lying with the sexual aggressor and the potential for
bystanders to make a difference.
And we do a lot of work with men here at West Chester. You may be
familiar with Dr. Deborah Mahlstedt's Fraternity Anti-violence Education
Project, a model program begun here at WCU in 1989. Men on our campus
do a White Ribbon Day every year as well.
