Thanks for the feedback, Sarah - you raise a good point. The flyer is
actually a fairly old one that we have not used for a while, thus the
outdated "prevention" language. Our current materials are strong on risk
reduction (as compared to prevention) language. I will be looking at
this particular piece to revise the language after giving your comments
more thought. We have other materials that emphasize the role of
responsibility lying with the sexual aggressor and the potential for
bystanders to make a difference.
And we do a lot of work with men here at West Chester. You may be
familiar with Dr. Deborah Mahlstedt's Fraternity Anti-violence Education
Project, a model program begun here at WCU in 1989. Men on our campus
do a White Ribbon Day every year as well.
