Hey everyone,
Our campus is applying for the DOJ VAWA Campus Grant. We are hoping to
use this grant to address drug-facilitated rapes on our campus,
something that could be a very hidden phenomenon. Testing isn't
encouraged by hospitals or police and students rarely report or go to
hospitals. Because of stories we've heard on our campus, we have a sense
that druggings are occurring at a much higher rate than we'd normally
suspect, though not always leading to a sexual assault. We want to avoid
messaging that indirectly blames victims, and although we could like to
do some passive/advertising campaigns, we are hoping to develop
something more pro-active. I am wondering if any of you have taken
creative measures to identify, address and/or prevent drug-facilitated
sexual assaults in your area. Please contact me directly at
if you have any ideas or suggestions.
In peace,
Ross
