Entries Invited for Dart Award for Excellence in Reporting
on Victims of Violence
Deadline: January 26, 2007
The Dart Award for Excellence in Reporting on Victims of Violence
recognizes reporting that best portrays victims and their experi-
ences with accuracy, insight, and sensitivity while illustrating
the effects of violence on victims' lives and the process of
recovery from emotional trauma.
Newspaper Award Guidelines: The competition is open to all North
American and U.S. territory newspapers. Entries may be a single
story or a cohesive series (not a body of work) and must have
been published during 2006. A $10,000 prize is awarded to the
winning newspaper for sharing among members of the team that
created the winning entry. Team members entitled to share in the
prize include reporters, photographers, copy editors, graphic
artists, and editors who acted as team leaders and any other
staff members who assisted in the creation of the entry.
Radio Award Guidelines: The competition is open to all North
American and U.S. territory radio stations and networks. Entries
may be a single story or a cohesive series (not a body of work)
first aired during 2006. Entries will be judged solely on what
is broadcast. There is no time limit on the length of the entry.
Up to $10,000 in prize money will be awarded to the winning radio
stations and networks for sharing among members of the team that
created the winning entries. Team members entitled to share in
the prize include reporters, editors, engineers, producers, news
director and program director who acted as team leaders and any
other staff members who assisted in the creation of the entry.
