Ross, one brief thought - are you targeting ONLY rape prevention, or other types of sexual abuse as well? Seems to me that often when we speak about sexual violence prevention, the uneducated audience may only focus on date rape prevention, when sexual abuse also occurs without force.

Hello everyone,

I work at a large university with a couple of fairly well-established peer sexual violence educator programs. Recently, I had a student-facilitator of mine who was interested in creating a documentary about the “experience” of sexual assault prevention education on our campus. Given that this is a peer ed program, there are lots of aspects (peer educator training, workshop facilitation, personal lives of facilitators during change, etc.) that could be focused on.

My student wants this film to be useful to either 1) tell the story of the work that I believe is happening on many college campuses, or 2) to help those of us who are doing this work to continue doing it better. That said, I have a question for folks on this list. If someone was going to create a documentary that would be about/for you, what would you want it to accomplish? I know everyone is really busy right now, so don’t worry about being too specific, I’m just looking for your gut responses. Thanks & good luck at the start of this semester!

In peace,

Ross
