Dartmouth College seeks an Assistant Director for the office of Undergraduate
Judicial Affairs. The position, which will be available on or about May 1,
2006, is administratively located in the Dean of the College (Student Life)
division and reports to the Director of Undergraduate Judicial Affairs.
The Assistant Director plays a key role in the office leadership by managing
the minor misconduct caseload, reviewing case decisions for consistency and
fairness, coordinating the organizational adjudication process, and directing
the department's educational outreach efforts. The Assistant Director works
closely with Athletics, Greek Affairs, Residential Life, and Student
Activities in an effort to educate students and organizations about the
Standards of Conduct and the rights and responsibilities in the College's
judicial process.
The position requires strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability
to exercise sound judgment, work independently, create organized systems,
take initiative, advise/counsel others, organize and facilitate meetings,
develop and organize detailed information, work well with faculty and senior
administrators, and make effective written and oral presentations. The
Assistant Director must exercise initiative and sound judgment for handling
highly confidential and sensitive matters. Familiarity with database systems
would be helpful. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to
diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse undergraduate student
population. Candidates should also be willing to work flexible and long
hours depending on department caseload.
Qualifications for employment include a Master's degree in counseling,
student personnel, or higher education or a law degree (JD) and at least
three years of experience in student affairs, preferably in college judicial
affairs; or the equivalent.
