Emory University is recognized internationally as an inquiry-driven, ethically engaged, and diverse community whose members work collaboratively for positive transformation in the world through courageous leadership in teaching, research, scholarship, health care, and social action. The University consists of an outstanding liberal arts college, highly ranked professional schools, and one of the larger and more comprehensive healthcare systems in the Southeast.
Emory is enriched by the legacy and energy of Atlanta, whose downtown is located 15 minutes away. There are 11,800 students enrolled at Emory, about half pursuing undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts, nursing, or business and the rest enrolled in graduate and professional programs, including Medicine, Nursing, Law, Theology, Public Health, Business, Arts and Sciences, and Allied Health. A palpable sense of community and social connection exists on campus; and because of Emory's size, students are nurtured in a way not possible at larger institutions.
The mission of Emory University Student Health Services (EUSHS) is to empower students to take responsibility for their health and to complement the academic mission of the university by providing unified services that are comprehensive, accessible and result in a healthy campus culture. This mission is accomplished via the following strategies: * Providing high quality, accessible, cost effective clinical and health education services that address students' health and wellness needs. * Providing a professional and positive environment for meeting students' health needs. * Maintaining a program that is sensitive to student/consumer needs, driven by strategic planning, and subject to systematic evaluation.
This mission is fulfilled through three operational areas: primary medical care, mental health and counseling, and health education and promotion.
Emory University Student Health Services is accredited by the American Association of Ambulatory Health Care Centers and is one of only two college/university health centers in the state of Georgia to be accredited by a major healthcare quality assurance agency.
