Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Program

Columbia University's Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Program (SVPR) is seeking a part time Men's Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Program, the Program Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of a prevention and education program for male students at Columbia University
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
" Coordinate Men's Program, including recruiting, training and supervising student peer educators
" Research best practice models of sexual assault prevention strategies with college-aged men.
" Assist in the development for recommended prevention strategy regarding methods of addressing sexual violence.
" Participate in regular meetings with campus groups and student leaders regarding methods of addressing sexual violence.
" Collaborate with the Director of SVPR and other student affairs or Health Services staff in the development of educational and training materials.
" Develop, deliver and evaluate workshops and training sessions for students and administrators.
" Provide sensitive and timely information to sexual assault victims about resources and reporting options.
" Actively participate in team approach to planning, implementing and evaluating comprehensive sexual assault program , including helping to develop, plan and implement sexual assault components of New Student Orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in training and education. One to three years experience in sexual assault education, prevention strategies, health education, counseling or related field are required. The successful candidate will have experience with or demonstrated commitment to developing and implementing violence prevention and education programs targeting young men as well as understanding of how race, gender and sexuality relates to sexual violence. Excellent communication, interpersonal and training skills are a must. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and ability to work effectively with student, faculty and administrative constituencies are also required. Position requires significant evening work; flexible schedule negotiable. MSW or related graduate degree a plus.
