Plays key role in the education wing of the Campus
Violence Prevention Project based at the Women’s Center. Develops a
campus-wide campaign focused on changing student attitudes, beliefs, and
behaviors related to violence against women by working with the Education
Committee and other colleagues. Continues education work that has started
with the Africana, the Asian and Asian American, the Latino, and the lesbian
and bisexual communities. Offers programs about violence against women for
students. Employs the use of student (working with staff) designed posters,
websites, workshop formats, videotaped public service announcements, and
brochures in educational programs for staff, faculty, and students.
Required Skills
Requires Bachelor’s degree and three to five
years’ experience; Master’s degree in Education, Psychology,
Public Health or other related field preferred. Must be familiar with MS Word
and Excel as well as other PC applications. Must possess deep understanding
of cultural issues of at least one of the target communities: Asian/Asian
American, Latino, Africana, or LBT. Background in issues of violence against
women is essential as is demonstrated experience in using a public health or
educational approach o create change. Must be comfortable on a college campus
and also with providing leadership to colleagues. Requires familiarity with
working with strong undergraduate students. Ability to work in a
collaborative manner is crucial as is the ability to complete projects and
meet deadlines. Good writing and speaking skills essential. Band: Specialist/Management
