When I teach or do educational training, I use the following:

1) The Jodi Gold/Susan Villari book, "just sex" (previously mentioned by Cathy Nardo). This is an excellent overview of the issues as they pertain especially to college students--activists, survivors, and the whole spectrum.

2) "Transforming a Rape Culture", Emilie Buchwald et al, editors. I especially like the essays on consent by Joe Weinberg, Michael Kimmel's essay on the 'celebrity' rapes of the 90's, and bell hook's essay, 'seduced by violence no more'.

3) For a more advanced audience (grad students or older adults) I like to use Susan Brison's book, "Aftermath: Violence and the remaking of the Self". I think this book is an excellent resource for looking at the idea of survival as memory/narrative, through the lens of philosophical inquiry.

This is a great thread! Thanks to everyone who is contributing ideas.

Susan
