Hey guys!
So as we mentioned in the interest meeting, VAA holds a great relationship with the Faith & Science group at the Center for Christian Studies down by the corner. The group meets every other Friday and discuss an article/reading that was assigned for that discussion. It's a great environment where people of different religious faiths and atheists/agnostics can have a intellectual discussion on different aspects of religion and science explored in the week's reading. The first meeting of the Faith & Science group will be on September 9 at 4PM at the Center for Christian Studies. We'll bring this up again at the next meeting, but keep the curiosity floating around in your mind.
In addition, some VAA members last year took part in a program of classes on faith and avocation called Trinity Fellows, and we'd like to continue that this year! One of the classes ("Issues in Contemporary Culture") pairs students with non-Christians ("partners in observation") to have one-on-one conversations about faith, society, and a variety of other topics. Super cool!
Overall, these groups and programs are a great way to learn about the way that practicing Christians or those of other faiths approach the world, and the similarities between those that take religion seriously and atheists that take religion seriously.
If you guys are interested, we'll bring it up again at the meeting so you can ask questions and all that stuff!
Thanks for reading,
Susan
