Hey VAA,If you want to ascends jonathan haidt's staircase and achieve transendence through contemplation of humanity's creative potential (or to just stay on the bottom floor and stuff your face with FREE goat cheese) meet Tori *(910-550-5994) today by the chapel at 5:15 and we'll walk** over to the fralin art museum for final Friday's.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~For those of you going on the hike tomorrow, read some details from Rolph*(540-748-3260):meet at 9am in front of thornton hall, and bring rain gear (poncho or north face-type light jacket is optimal, umbrellas are kinda unwieldy) because the forecast is 90 percent chance of light rain. the hike isn't that strenuous but bring water bottles.logistics:
- you will probably not have a cell signal (at least i didn't, and my carrier is at&t) within a 2 mile radius of the hike. this means that using gps / google maps to get there will not work. so the best thing to do i think is to have my car lead and then the rest of the cars closely follow me. the route isn't that hard but there is a weird fork to the destination that is easy to miss.
- there will be probably a lot of cars on the parking lot, and it sucks because it really isn't a lot -- more of a dirt road kind of thing, which makes going in/out a bit of a hassle. just drive carefully, please
- we have about 20ish people coming, and having everyone ***walk on the trail at once will not work. as we discussed the previous time we planned the hike, we should split up into cohorts (probably of 10 people each). one cohort goes and then the other follows after about 10-20 minutes. depending on how fast we do the hike, we should turn around when we encounter the waterfall. the cohorts should meet there and then we can decide if we want to keep going or turn back.
see you all tomorrow!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*contact us if you have questions about these activities or are running late or don't know where to meet up or fell down a steam tunnel and are trapped.**moonwalking gets you more points than regular walking.***moonwaking all the way up the mountain gets you EVEN MORE POINTS than moonwalking to the art museum.
