Greetings VAAers,

--------------------------
This Week's Talk
--------------------------

This Thursday evening, our very own Rolph Recto will be giving a talk about the search for purpose and the explanation of design in the natural world. The meeting will be held in the same room where we assembled for last week's meeting:

Clark Hall 101, Thursday, January 22nd, 7:00 P.M.
(to your immediate left when you walk into the front of Clark)

Faith, Reason, and Science Discussion Group
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Every two weeks, Bill Wilder of the Christian Study Center on the corner hosts a Faith, Reason, and Science discussion group.  Here is a blurb from Bill on the discussion topic for this week's discussion:

We're now finishing up The Language of Faith and Science, by Karl Giberson and Francis Collins. The chapter title this week is “What is the Fine-Tuning of the Universe, and How Does It Serve as a Pointer to God?” Once we finish this book I would like to discuss chapters or essays (from whatever perspective) suggested by members of the group.

If this sounds interesting to you, even if you haven't done the aforementioned reading, I encourage you to check it out. Our VP Scott will be attending.

Christian Study Center (near Bank of America on the Corner), Friday, January 23rd, 4:00 P.M.

Next Week's Special Meeting: Bowling Night
------------------------------------------------------------------

Next Thursday, January 29th, our meeting will be a bowling night at the AMF bowling alley down 29. Thursday nights are college nights starting at 8:00 P.M.--- for 7 dollars with a student ID, college students can rent shoes and play unlimited games. Pizza and beer are also discounted.  Because the discount doesn't begin until 8:00, we will be pushing back our regular meeting time: Prospective bowlers will be assembling on grounds at a designated spot TBD at 7:45 P.M. to carpool over to the bowling alley. The earliest cars will probably be returning to grounds around 10:00.

We wanted to give you guys a little extra notice for planning purposes since this meeting will be at a somewhat irregular time and will require a little cash. Next week on Monday we will be sending out a reminder email pertaining to the bowling excursion that will contain a Doodle poll to sign up for rides to the bowling alley and other pertinent details. Keep an eye out for this email!

Notify me via email in the next couple days if you have a car and are able to drive for this outing.

Interested in VAA Leadership?
---------------------------------------------

VAA is seeking a couple of new officers (including a new treasurer). If you come to most VAA meetings, enjoy the club's company, and want to influence VAA event planning in the future, then you might make an excellent officer! Becoming an officer is a rewarding way to get more involved in VAA.

Treasurer is a very important position within VAA: Responsibilities specific to the treasurer position include: applying for event funding and reimbursement, collecting dues, and managing our club's bank account.  The treasurer also helps carry out general officer responsibilities.

What are these general officer responsibilities I speak of? Come find out!
We will be holding an open officer meeting this Sunday 1/25 at 6:00 P.M. at the couches in front of the Pav in Newcomb Hall. We will plan and discuss upcoming events, meetings, and talks.

Godlessly yours,

Alexa Monfort
VAA President
