UPDATE:
Meet at 11 P.M. in front of Thornton Hall (at the McCormick bus stop.) From there, you will be able to receive a ride, and be taken to IHOP! I will see those of you who replied there. If you have any other questions, do email me.

Hello VAA,This week's meeting will concern the persecution of the LGBT in Uganda, captured most infamously in the 'Kill the Gays Bill', and how this sociopolitical issue relates to Christianity (especially of the American brand.) We will use some video clips from the NYT to familiarize ourselves with the situation, and then discuss this intersection of religion, bigotry, politics and cross-continental evangelicalism. The meeting is in:Monroe 130, at 7:00 P.M., Tues, 2/19---Announcements for the week:(1) Atheism + Pancakes = Win. Join us for a social outing to IHOP on Thursday night, at 11:00 P.M., when you can get the half-off student discount! Rides will be provided, but if you are a potential driver, do let us know! Anyone interested in attending should contact me for coordinating details.(2) On March 5th, we will be hosting Dr. Andy Thomson to speak on the science of "spiritual healing" in a presentation entitled: "Piety, Plagiarism, and Placebo Effects: How Religions Hijack our Evolved Capacities for Self Healing". Please join the facebook event here, and tell your friends! Dr. Thomson is a wonderful speaker, and we are aiming to make his talk one of our biggest events this semester.(3) Want to be an appointed officer? Hopefully you saw Elizabeth's email about the topic, but this is your final reminder to express interest. More on this at the meeting.(4) We are collecting $10 dues from club members for the year. Many thanks to those who have already contributed. If you partook in our parties or other provisioned events, your payment is especially appreciated!Gotta Jet,John KubinskiVAA President
