Hello again VAA,

We've arrived at our last meeting of the semester. So firstly, I wanted to thank everyone for a semester of enjoyable times and rich conversations. Thanks to the new individuals who have taken an interest in the group; I look forward to getting to know everyone even better in the Spring.

Secondly, but quite importantly, our last speaker joins us this week. Bill Wilder, Director of the Christian Study Center, will be speaking on what a Biblically-sound account of Christianity looks like with regards to the resurrection, and how transformative a proper interpretation of the significance of resurrection is to the shape of Christian thought. Some themes you can expect are a turn from escapism towards engagement with the world, and a turn away from disembodied heavenly existence to perfected bodily life as the promise of Christianity; the Christian afterlife will not look the same to you after this talk. Personally, I've found it quite fascinating and even startlingly surprising at times to learn how astray mainstream Christianity is from scholarly theology. Thus I enjoin you to attend the talk not only for its interest as a new perspective on what you thought you knew, but also to grapple with a properly represented account of Christianity.

We will be meeting an hour later than usual this week. Specifically:

New Cabell 411, 8:00 P.M. - Thursday, December 1st.

It has been fun, see you Thursday.

John Kubinski
VAA President
