Hi Folks,
I know this is a busy time of year so I appreciate you reading my request. :) I'm hoping to further refine a summary I've been working on, which outlines challenges and benefits of victim services and violence prevention education remaining in a student center that reports up through The Office of the Dean of Students vs. relocating within Counseling (advocacy) and Wellness (education) Services.

Would you have capacity to share insights or feedback? If so, please respond by May 8. Thank you!

Adriane Bang, LMSW

Additional Background
With the dissolution of our Gender Equity Center our confidential, crisis support services (we specialize in victim advocacy but provide support for lots of things) and violence prevention education programs were moved to a newly created department called Student Connections and Support Center. This department reports up to the Office of the Dean of Students and is located in the Student Union Building. Beyond advocacy and education, the center offers:
  • Social programming, rooted in a relationship-rich experience, and focused on interacting with campus resources in a fun/crafty way
  • A growing first-gen program with academic coaching and a graduation celebration
  • A campus clothing closet
  • A kitchenette and reserable lounge and study spaces.
I'm hoping to outline benefits and challenges of these services remaining in the center vs. moving to University Health Services. I'm asking for your support in one of three ways:

1. Review and share comments on a short summary we've crafted

2. Respond to this email to share your thoughts about the benefits and challenges of including confidential victim advocacy in counseling services vs. a student center

3. Share links or pdfs for any resources you think may be helpful for me to review.

If you are interested/have capacity, please respond to this email by Friday, May 8.

Thanks for considering!
