Dear colleagues,

I wanted to share a free webinar we are doing this Friday on the new federal Take It Down Act. While there is nothing technically 'required' for colleges and universities to do, the law provides significant opportunities to keep students safe and help them navigate an increasingly complex online environment.

Feel free to join and share with any campus colleagues who may benefit.

"The Take it Down Act: What College and University Professionals Need to Know" on July 18th at 12PM PDT / 3PM EDT

The Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks Act or ''TAKE IT DOWN" Act includes new criminal and civil penalties for unlawfully sharing or threatening to share intimate images of adults and children and will require certain websites to develop a process for victims and their authorized representatives to provide notice of such images and have them taken down from the site.

This session will provide background on how such incidents are impacting our students and offer guidance on how to educate students and employees about the law and its protections. There will be time for questions and discussion. Sign Up Here: https://hubs.la/Q03w_p6R0

More information on the TIDA in this article: The Take It Down Act Will Provide a Nationwide Approach, Criminal and Civil, to Nonconsensual Shared Images

Hope you can join Friday!

Sincerely,

Joe
