Hello!

I hope the beginning of the semester has gone well for you and your campus community. As Domestic Violence Awareness Month approaches, we at the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance want to share resources that many of our campus partners have utilized to support their violence prevention efforts on campus, especially during DVAM.

The Red Flag Campaign is a bystander intervention strategy for colleges and universities that encourages students to say something when they see warning signs, or "red flags," for sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking in a friend’s relationship. The Campaign includes posters that describe red flags for dating violence and offer language to address them. This year, we launched a brand new series of posters for the Red Flag Campaign that are available now for purchase! You can visit the Campaign store website or learn more about the Campaign here: http://www.theredflagcampaign.org/

We have also attached the presentation from an ECHO@edu session where we shared the history of the Red Flag Campaign, launched the new posters, and discussed ways in which multiple prevention strategies work together to create culture change on campus. If you use the Red Flag Campaign on your campus, please share your DVAM successes with us; we’d love to see and share them!

Another tool we want to offer is Transforming Relationships: A Violence Prevention Toolkit for Peer Educators. This toolkit is for young adults and supportive professional staff who want to cultivate safer thriving communities on their college campuses. We know that students enjoy and benefit from learning from one another, and that peer education creates leadership opportunities for students passionate about cultivating anti-violent communities. Thus, the goal of this toolkit is to empower student leaders to use their knowledge and skills to make transformative change, which will aid their own development as well as pave the way for future classes of students to do the same. The toolkit dives into foundational knowledge, key frameworks, and activities for peer educators to use in their programming. You can print the toolkit for free or use and share the virtual copy.

You can learn more about our campus resources and prevention initiatives on our website: https://vsdvalliance.org/change-culture/promoting-healthy-campuses/ and can reach the Action Alliance’s Culture Change Team at with any questions or support needs.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and rest of the semester!

Best,
Arianna
