Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Project Director Violence Prevention and Response Initiatives will serve to realize the goals of the the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) campus grant to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campus. Specifically, they will design a multipronged educational program for students, faculty, staff, campus stationed police/security, and the President’s Administrative Council. They will conduct assessments on campus efforts and identity opportunities for improvement; provide regular, detailed progress reports to the grantor. 

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Project Director Violence Prevention and Response Initiatives must:

  • Grow relationships with a variety of campus and community partners, including faculty, staff, and student organizations to help reduce the amount of acts of violence against women on campus.
  • Facilitate an in-depth initial and ongoing program assessment of campus wide efforts, identify gaps and opportunities for growth in delivery of service, education, and response to violence.
  • Use software and familiarity with best practices around violence prevention and education to design and implement online training modules for all incoming students. Coordinate with videographers to film campus leaders and edit footage for use in the online modules.
  • Create supplementary live and passive programs for campus members, as well as mandatory training for campus assigned police officers and the President’s Administrative Council.
  • Document grant funded efforts and prepare detailed technical reports for Office of Violence Against Women.
  • Co-facilitate a multidisciplinary team focused on education about, prevention of, and response to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campus.
  • Serve as a liaison between the University, Office of Sponsored Programs, and the Federal Office on Violence Against Women Technical Assistance Team.

35% of Time the Project Director Violence Prevention and Response Initiatives must:

  • Complete grant required technical training.
  • Track and prompt participation in mandatory programs.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to promote campus wide violence prevention and response campaigns.
  • Partner with Faces of Hope to promote referrals to their services.
  • Coordinate with OVW, the Student Equity Center, Faces, WCA, SPARC (and others as needed) for review of all promotional and educational materials.

5% Duties as Assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Familiarity with best practices in prevention of and response to D/DV, SA, and ST;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. Also excels in working independently.
  • Knowledge of privilege and oppression and how they relate to rates of stalking, sexual assault, and relationship violence.
  • Knowledge of best practices in prevention of and response to domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault.
  • Ability to design and offer interactive in person or online educational workshops and passive/social media educational and prevention campaigns for adults.
  • Ability to interpret and comply with complex policies from multiple agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4 years of progressive professional experience) and 2 years professional experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in social work, sociology, psychology, health promotions, public health, education, communications, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years experience providing services to victims of stalking, sexual assault, and relationship violence; this position requires a familiarity with but does not provide direct services to victims.
  • At least 1 year experience working in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. Also excels in working independently.
  • Designing and offering interactive in person or online educational workshops and passive/social media educational and prevention campaigns for adults.
  • Building strong working relationships with diverse populations and organizations, running effective meetings, including over Zoom.
  • Completing programmatic assessments and writing detailed reports on programmatic efforts.
  • Interpreting and complying with complex policies from multiple agencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Gmail suite, and Zoom.
  • Experience managing a program budget.
  • Openness to learn and a proven ability to pick up new knowledge and skills quickly.
